Deciding to start a blog for yourself is a beneficial exercise to enhance your writing craft, discuss your interests, and demonstrate your expertise.
Many individuals who have started humble blogs in their spare time have turned them into profitable businesses. The best part is you don’t need a large amount of investment to get started.
Blogging for Beginners: Create Your Blog Strategy
Do you know your first step to take to action plan a little about your blog?
- Plan in advance, Who is your audience?
- Which type of content are you going to post?
Note: If you’re seriously thinking about deciding on blogging as a career, I recommend you read step1 carefully and then take your decision and if you’re straight up ready to start your blog.
Step2: Choosing your Blog’s name and niche
Most successful bloggers focus on one category. May it be food, travel, fitness, fashion or simply about your business. We recommend choosing a niche that you feel passionate about or interested in because you are an expert at something; this helps you grow your blog by writing good, quality content to help others.
Step 3: Find the right blogging platform (WordPress)
The biggest mistake by beginners makes a blog building the wrong blogging platform. Thankfully you’re here so that you won’t be making that mistake. However, there are some essential points related to WordPress blog:
- A domain name idea
- A web hosting account
First, decide on – free blog or a self-hosted blog?
Almost anyone signs up with a free blogging site or platform such as Blogger.com, WordPress.com, etc., you will not get such a facility that you can monetize, and it will not be beneficial, and most importantly – you’ll have no control over your blog.
However, if you are serious about blogging, the free blogging platform is not the way to go. If you want to upgrade, you should use the paid version.
The solution for this is to host your blog yourself (have a self-hosted blog).
90% of users use WordPress, also known as self-hosted WordPress, because it is easy to use. You can install plugins, customize your blog design and, most importantly, make money from your blog without any restrictions.
It means you have the required domain name and web hosting for your site.
1.Domain Name – The domain name is the name of the website which readers type in the explorer. Examples of domain names ( hamlance.tech, https://google.com,
https://yoursite.com , Dot.com extension is a high-level domain name.
2.Web Hosting – Web hosting is where your website files live. It’s your website’s house on the internet. Every website needs web hosting; it is like a computer storage device, which stores all your data (images, posts, pages, and many more) and keeps your data secured.
Which hosting buy for our WordPress site?
We recommend going with the self-hosted route because it’s much more flexible, and you can start growing and creating your blog from day one.
A domain name typically costs approx. $10 to $12/ year, and web hosting normally costs $ 5 / month.
There are a ton of web hosting providers which you can use for your new blog. But I don’t recommend that to you because they are worthless. So instead of giving you a ton of hosting lists, I recommend you to go with Wix or GoDaddy.
These are some of the oldest web hosting companies on the internet. GoDaddy is the No.1 hosting for beginners. Their support and service are excellent and reliable; they are also the most prominent brand name for WordPress hosting because they host millions of websites.
Step 4: Set up and configure your WordPress blog
All the hosting provided companies launched the new version to make it easier for non-tech and beginner bloggers to create their blog if you have signed up, then automatically set up your WordPress.
It means you have to quickly log in to your hosting account and press the login to WordPress button to get started with your WordPress account setup.
The only motive is to give you a proper guide to start your blog in 2022. Here, we will know how to set up a word press site to upgrade it on websites.
First, go to the left sidebar and click on the Settings button, then go to the general tab:-
This is where you can set:-
- “Site Title” – Site title means the name of your site. The site title is vital because every visitor first sees your Title and an important role in search engines. Determine your rankings. Make sure that you have your business name there. Not a Domain Name.
- “Tagline” – Use of tagline it means a summary of what your blog is about in one sentence.
- Website URL Address: Set your URL address as per order.
In this part, you can also check and set the site language, time zone, date format, time format day start etc.
Search Engine Visibility
SEV is the most important point you should know. But, first, you must be sure that Google can learn about your new posts.
To make sure, go to Settings, then go to the Reading option on the left sidebar of your Dashboard, sure that the option:-“Discourage search engines from indexing this site” should be unchecked. Like this:
These pages contain two more things Homepage and Posts page:
It shows the recent post of your WordPress; it is also used as a static page.
Posts page: it is an area where you can post your articles and modify them on your WordPress.
The “permalinks’ ‘ setting lets you know how WordPress will create individual URLs, then web page addresses and for each of individual blog posts or sub-pages.
These thoughts might sound a bit advanced, but the settings are pretty easy. Just go to Settings, then click on the Permalinks option. Once you set your permalinks to the “Post name” variant, like this:
This is the most important setting on permalinks of the individual available and recommended by Google and other search engine optimization.
Step 5: Select attention to your WordPress Theme
After installing WordPress, theme and blog, looks are more important if you’re starting your new blog. This is because themes control the visual appearance of your WordPress blog.
In blogging, the planning of the blog matters because if you don’t have an excellent design, you’re losing high traffic and readers. In addition, the best design helps to create more trust for your blog.
There are thousands of free WordPress themes that are available. You can install and customize them easily (without any coding knowledge, but I don’t recommend it because these free themes are easy to hack, and by this, you’ll lose all your website data.
Some of them are free themes, while others are paid.
In your WordPress inventory, there are many free themes available for you; If you’re using a free theme, you have not appropriately customized as per your requirement.
If you would like to try blogging as a career, then investing in themes and plugins is the simplest investment in your blogging business. Unfortunately, I see many bloggers don’t invest in this sort of thing and face many problems later.
So which theme is best for you?
I recommended Generate Press, a lightweight theme that loads your website fast; I also liked the proper and easy customization or planning of this theme, and lots of pro bloggers are using it because it’s easy to style.
There are many more themes we have suggested, but before that, permit me to tell you the Few things which you retain in your mind while purchasing a topic –
confirm that premium themes you’re buying are the lightest theme with easy customization or to use and support for the latest WordPress version you also have. Make sure the theme must be responsive.
Support is that the main thing, so attempt to find a topic that has excellent contact support (like
Generatepress and Theme shop).
Now let me tell you a number of my favourite paid themes that I’m currently using on my other blogs.
Some of my Favorite Themes (Personally Used)
Astra Pro – Astra Pro is lightweight and easy to customize the theme. This theme has more features that aren’t available in generating press and others, and you’ll make your homepage attractive and responsive.
Hello, theme- is also lightweight and 100% responsive, and stylish theme.
GeneratePress – GeneratePress is the best theme that I recommended. It works very well. This theme is easy to customize so that anyone newbie can customize it. The support of this theme is amazing. If I would like to settle on pieces from all the above, I recommended generating press.
After picking any one theme now, it’s time to put that theme on your blog. Just follow these below steps:
First of all, you should log in to your WordPress dashboard appearance themes.
Note: if you have uploaded any new theme you’re doing, here is just changing the look of your blog. You’re not erasing any of your content. So you can change your theme as often as you want without having to worry about your pages vanishing.
Step 6: Some Essential Plugins for WordPress
WordPress is nothing without plugins because plugins are essential tools for optimizing your blog content, SEO, Speed, and many other features. There are thousands of plugins on WordPress, but there are some plugins that I recommend using and optimizing your site and also work as autopilot mode.
List of my favourite plugging: –
So, here is that the list of my plugins which I’m personally using my another website: –
WP Rocket – You already know that speed is one of the major factors to rank on Google. So WProcket plugin which helps you to optimize your full website and make it faster. I strongly recommend you to buy this plugin wp rocket.
Yoast: Yoast Plugin helps SEO become a favourite for every blogger because of its good features, and many bloggers suggest you. For more information, you’ll read the review on my blog.
About more Plugin:-
Elementor or Thrive Architect – Both plugins use page builders for designing any page. These plugins allow you to form your assumed landing page by just drag and drop. Both, which they’re very lightweight Plugins.
Popup Maker – If you have collected your readers’ emails for better service, you’ll plan leads that help you to make popup lightbox, sticky ribbon, screen filler overlay, content lock, and more.
iThemes Security – Security is the most important priority; repeatedly, hackers try to hack your website, so this Plugin helps you secure your entire website. Using the security plugin is vital to remain your blog safe.
Anti-Spam –Someone makes spam comments on your blog. This Plugin helps you that if someone discusses your blog and the comment appears to be spam, it automatically removes it.
Social Snap Pro-Social snap could also be a social sharing plugin. Still, I prefer this Plugin because they assist in driving traffic from mediums like – Facebook, Twitter, and many more platforms.
We have explained that these are the very best plugins that I almost utilized in my website to run them properly.
Note: – I don’t recommend you to carry with nulled or cracked plugins because these kinds of plugins are easy to hack by the hacker, and by this, you lose all of your website data.
If you plan as professional blogging and make money from it, I highly recommend keeping the investment mindset and treating your blog like a business.
If you keep none of the Plugin, then again go to Dashboard
Then attend Plugins → Add new
then upload your plugin zip file and click on the install now button. After installing, click on the “activate button” to place a specific Plugin.
Step 7: Add logo, change colours and structure.
The WordPress theme that you’ve decided to use already comes with its specific pre-configured design; you can still change parts of it to your liking.
If you select the theme and are all done, if you go to Appearance → Customize, you’ll see the WordPress Customizer section.
If your theme is different then, you’ll get a different set of options in the left sidebar menu, but the most common ones will include:
- Site Identity – this is where you can set your blog title again, plus add a logo image and a site icon.
- Colours – To adjust the primary colours used throughout your website’s design, you also have to represent the site URL logo.
- Header –. another section that’s highly dependent on the theme that you’re using. Though, the most common setting is header graphic or image or header video.
To set your header image, click on “Add new image”: for setting your “Background” – for setting your background graphic, image, or colour.
- Menus –. Menus have a vital task in WordPress. Best tool for making sure that your audience can find the pages you’ve created.
Typically, your blog should have one main menu that’s placed in the main navigation bar. Most visitors will expect to find something like that on your site.
To create a new menu, go to Appearance → Menus; once there, look through the list of the available pages (the pages you’ve made so far) and click the checkboxes next to the ones you want to have in your new menu. Then, click on “Add to Menu”. You’ll see your pages listed in the section on the right.
When we click on the main “Save Menu” button, my menu will be set.
- Widgets – In simple language, widgets are small blocks displayed in various places throughout WordPress.
Step 8: creating your first blog post
If you have done the above work, write your first blog post, click on the Posts » Add New menu in your WordPress dashboard.
You will see an editor area where you can write your first blog post.
